Modern Vintage Bulb Warranty Policy

At Modern Vintage, we design our bulbs to combine timeless style with dependable modern performance. Every bulb is built to deliver up to 15,000 hours of illumination — giving you years of enjoyment under normal use.

Warranty Coverage

  • This warranty covers all Modern Vintage bulbs, whether used in residential or commercial settings.

  • Coverage is valid for 15,000 hours of usage from the date of purchase, subject to the timelines below:

Residential (approx. 3 hrs/day) ~13 years 5 years from purchase
Mixed-use / Light commercial (approx. 8 hrs/day) ~5 years 3 years from purchase
Heavy commercial (approx. 12 hrs/day) ~3.5 years 2 years from purchase
  • If your bulb fails due to a defect in materials or workmanship before the expected warranty period ends, Modern Vintage will provide a replacement bulb or store credit at our discretion.

Conditions of Warranty

To qualify for coverage:

  1. The bulb must have been used under normal operating conditions and installed according to product instructions.

  2. The bulb must not have been altered, modified, or repaired by unauthorized persons.

  3. Proof of purchase (invoice, order confirmation, or receipt) is required.

  4. The warranty applies only to the original purchaser and is non-transferable.

Exclusions

This warranty does not cover:

  • Damage caused by improper installation, incompatible fixtures/dimmers, or failure to follow instructions.

  • Damage resulting from power surges, lightning, or unstable electrical supply.

  • Normal LED characteristics such as gradual reduction in brightness or slight shifts in color temperature over time.

  • Cosmetic changes (scratches, marks) that do not affect performance.

Warranty Claims Process

If you believe your bulb has failed under warranty:

  2. Provide proof of purchase, a description of the issue, and photos if available.

  3. You may be required to return the defective bulb for inspection. Customers are responsible for all shipping costs.

  4. Once approved, you will receive either:

    • A replacement bulb, or

    • A store credit equal to the value of the defective product.

Limitations

  • Modern Vintage’s liability is limited to replacement or store credit; installation or labor costs are not covered.

  • This warranty does not affect your statutory rights under the South African Consumer Protection Act (CPA).
